São
Paulo, the biggest city in south-america was founded on the 25 of
january in 1554 by catholic missionaries. Sao Paulo is located 50km from
the sea ( beeline), 750m above sea-level and exactly on the Tropic
of Capricorn. The city is seperated from the Atlantic by the
coastal-mountain area "Serra do Mar", which reaches up 1000m to
1400m in between Santos and Sao Paulo.
The city is the most important industrial location of latin-america and a
city of superlatives. In the greater sao paulo area there live more than
20 million people, the city holds the second largest helicopter-fleet,
there are more than 1250 reastaurants with cuisine from all over the
world, 151 cinemas, 96 theaters and 60 museums. The german part of the
population counts 300.000 people and the japanese colony is the biggest
out of the origin counrty, Japan. Furthermore, Sao Paulo is a
multicultural place where nations meet and merge,such as americans,
british, italians, koreans, peruvians and many more.
