The “Cidade Maravilhosa”, the wonderful city, certainly is one of the most interesting and charming cities in the world. Founded in 1565, Rio de Janeiro developed from a small village at Guanabara-Bay. Rio's location is unique and absolutely beautiful, the different elements like water, beach, mountains, rainforest merge in a natural harmony. Arriving in Rio de Janeiro, via boat or via airplane, it's gonna be a special experience! The city used to be Brazil's politcal centre, but that changed in 1960 when Brasilia became its capital.
